The Band welcomes adults, beginners through to accomplished musicians, who play woodwind, brass, or percussion instruments.
This is a friendly environment, new members are welcome to sit-in for a couple of nights with no commitment necessary. You will soon feel at home!
The Band averages 40+ members from all parts of Winnipeg and from all walks of life: ages range from 18 to 80+.
Band Season is from September to June.
Annual fee $80.00.

The director of the Westwood Community Band is Cheryl Ferguson.
Cheryl Ferguson received a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance (French horn) and a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of Mary (Bismarck, ND). She has also done graduate work at Southern Oregon University, and has earned a Master in Curriculum Studies (Music Education) at Acadia University (Nova Scotia).
Cheryl has taught music at every level, including K-6 classroom, nine years running junior high band programs, and has been in her current position as Director of Bands at Fort Richmond Collegiate since 2006.
Cheryl has completed the Canadian Wind Conductor’s Development Program Levels I and II. She is active as a clinician, adjudicator and guest conductor, including conducting the 2010 Manitoba Junior Provincial Honour Band, many regional honour Bands, and adjudicating at the Manitoba Band Association Level One Festival for many years. She has also worked as a guest conductor and adjudicator in the Regina Catholic School system.
The Fort Richmond Collegiate band program, under Cheryl's direction, was awarded the Don Green Award at the 2011 Optimist Band Festival in Winnipeg.
